Driving around can be hard work – the late nights, the takeaways and keeping yourself entertained when on a break or when delayed. As a result of this HGV drivers must prepare for every situation which means carrying a range of items. This can cause clutter and can dirty the inside of your HGV. To help with organising your lorry and keeping it as clean as possible (when possible!) here are some quick tips/suggestions that may help:

High Visibility jackets are important for drivers who may need to vacate their vehicle; whether it is to get a coffee or to check a tyre.
Hi – Vis clothing is made of a very bright fabric which makes it easier for motorists to see an individual. This is especially important during the darker hours but wearing a Hi-Vis jacket during the day will significantly lessen the risk of a motorist not seeing you.
High visibility clothing helps to reduce the risk of accidents and improves overall safety, especially when you are close to traffic.

Brakes are one of the most important mechanisms of a HGV or any vehicle. As such they should be checked regularly to ensure road safety.
How is a brake test carried out?
The vehicle is driven onto the brake tester which has weighing cells on each side. A safety roller detects if a vehicle is present and if there is any slipping of the tyres. Once the information has been processed the rollers are switched on and will go at an approved speed. The brakes are then applied by the operator and measurements are recorded.
Reading the results:
It is important to read the results of your brake test, even if you have passed. Just because the test has been passed, there may still be action needed.
The DVSA have more information on how to read your report:

After the test:
If your vehicle fails or has any faults which need to be rectified our mechanics at C&B Trucks will fix any issues before you leave with your vehicle.
